History:
In 1940 Hitler decided to locate and build a headquarters comprising 200 buildings, shelters, barracks, 2 airfields, a power station, a railway station, where the most important matters of the Third Reich were decided in the heart of the Mazurian forest. Here, criminal decisions were taken concerning the fate of many nationalities. Hitler stayed in the quarters for 800 days until 1944, when Colonel Count Claus Schenk von Stauffenberg made an unsuccessful attempt on Hitler’s life. This is where such criminals as: Hermann Goring, Heinrich Himmler, Martin Bormann, Wilhelm Keitel, Joseph Goebbels, Dr Fritz Todt, Albert Speer and others.
On the night of 24-25 January 1945, it was decided to destroy the Wolf’s Lair. All that remained were huge blocks of concrete and steel, which make a huge impression on visitors.
