Stanisław Lem Experimental Garden in Cracow

The idea of creating a sensory educational park in Kraków, featuring an interactive exhibition explaining the laws of physics, emerged in the 1990s among cultural animators and ecologists. However, it wasn’t until 2004, through the EQUAL Community Initiative Programme and the “Nowa Huta – New Chance” partnership project, that the necessary organizational and financial conditions were met. This innovative project was funded by the European Social Fund.
The Garden of Experiences was co-created by Kraków’s Municipal Infrastructure and Transport Authority and the “U Siemachy” Association. It was inspired by the Field of Sensory Experiences in Nuremberg, which has operated since 1996. The models were designed and constructed by a team of Kraków-based experts in fields such as architecture, physics, and education. The City Council named the garden after Stanisław Lem, the renowned writer and citizen of Kraków.
