Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lichen

Medals can be purchased at the papomats in the pastoral house, in the tower upstairs, in the shop at the back of the Basilica, in the souvenir shop next to Golgotha and in the shop on the main street!

It is now the largest church in Poland and also houses the largest organ in the country.

At the top of the 141-metre-high tower there are two viewing terraces – the upper one at 130 m and the lower one at 120 m, which offer a view in good weather of up to 30 km from Licheń.

On 6 June 1999, the Great Pilgrim John Paul II stood on the soil of Licheń. This happened at the request of the Holy Father himself, who, hearing about Licheń, said: – ‘I would like to see it’. On 7 June, the Holy Father visited the new temple, celebrated a service during which he blessed the temple under construction and the faithful gathered in the square.
