The Shrine of Blessed Karolina Kózkówna is a place to commemorate the martyrdom of a 16-year-old girl murdered by a Russian soldier during World War One in defence of her dignity and beatified by Pope John Paul II on 10 June 1987. It is a place of meeting and formation for young and old, as well as providing comprehensive assistance to the families of victims of violence and traffic accidents and disasters. A unique place frequented by pilgrims is the martyrdom trail, where numerous pilgrims gather at 3 p.m. on the 18th day of each month throughout the year. Near the shrine, the only memorial in Poland and Europe for victims of traffic accidents and crimes has been erected, which is not only a place of remembrance, but above all a therapy for those traumatised by an accident.
