The PTTK Regional Museum in Dobczyce is located on Góra Zamkowa (Castle Hill), offering a picturesque view of Lake Dobczyce and the Lubomir and Łysina Beskid mountain ranges. The museum’s exhibition is housed in the partially reconstructed ruins of a medieval castle, whose history dates back to the 14th century. The exhibition includes the castle’s chapel and a historical hall with an extensive exhibition devoted to the events of both World Wars in the area of Dobczyce and an executioner’s cell located in the dungeon. The castle’s exhibition halls also feature objects from archaeological excavations carried out on the castle hill, including decorative tiles from the castle’s cookers and weapons. The main attraction of the smelting hall is the reconstructed hypocaustum furnace, a former central heating system.

The second, equally worth seeing part of the museum is the open-air museum included in the Małopolska Route of Wooden Architecture, where an ethnographic exhibition devoted to the local folk culture is presented. In the main open-air museum building, located on the site of a former inn, next to the dobczyce guildhall, a country kitchen, a burgher’s alcove and a corner devoted to annual customs have been arranged. The open-air museum also includes a funeral house with an exhibition on funerary themes, and a poultry shed displaying agricultural tools, as well as coach houses and a blacksmith’s shop.
