Medals can be purchased in the buffet!

The PTTK (Polish Tourist Country-Lovers’ Association) chalet named after Czesław Trybowski in the Old Peaks is situated in the western part of the Gorce Mountains at an altitude of 968 metres above sea level, on a beautiful forest glade. From here, there is a magnificent view of the Tatra panorama in almost its entire extent. You can also admire the panorama of the Beskid Wyspowy, some of the Gorce peaks and even Babia Góra. The surroundings of Stare Wierchy are mainly spruce forests and glades, full of blueberries in summer. There are numerous trails in the vicinity of the hostel, creating favourable conditions for hiking, horse riding and cycling enthusiasts. In winter, the slope of the glade creates favourable conditions for downhill skiing and there is a ski lift in the vicinity of the chalet. There are also numerous trails for cross-country skiers in the area. Particularly charming is the gentle, ridged blue trail from Obidowa, leading through numerous flowered glades with fantastic views of the Tatra and Beskid Mountains. It was this route that Cardinal Stefan Sapieha was particularly fond of and he hiked to the Old Peaks many times. Karol Wojtyła also hiked this section of the trail, which is why it is called the Cardinal Route. Both the scenic qualities and the fact that such great wanderers traversed this mountain path make it worthwhile to follow this interesting and little frequented trail.
