PTTK mountain chalet on Magurka in the Little Beskid

The saying “small is beautiful” proves to be 100% accurate in the case of the Little Beskids. A perfect example confirming this statement is the highly valued Magurka Wilkowicka peak – the 4th highest summit of the Little Beskids at 909 m above sea level, cherished by tourists for its scenic qualities. From Magurka’s summit clearing, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the Little Beskids ranges as well as peaks of the Silesian and Żywiec Beskids. On clear days, one can even admire the Tatra Mountains and the distant Jeseníky range, the highest mountain massif of Moravia in the Czech Republic.

The summit clearing features an impressive PTTK mountain hut with a large viewing veranda. This is actually the third hut built on this site – the two previous wooden ones burned down before WWI. The current brick hut was opened in 1913. After numerous renovations, it has preserved the charm and atmosphere of bygone years while offering year-round amenities for hikers, skiers and cyclists: comfortable lodging, excellent cuisine, maps, souvenirs and professional tourist information.

Magurka serves as an important trail junction in the western Little Beskids. From here, trails lead toward Bielsko-Biała, the Żywiec Basin, and the Międzybrodzie and Żywiec lake areas. Just 45 minutes away via the blue trail lies Czupel (933 m), the highest peak of the Little Beskids.
