Pieskowa Skała Castle Branch of Wawel Royal Castle

Medals can be purchased in the souvenir shop at the foot of the castle!

The castle in Pieskowa Skała in Jura is a real architectural gem, located in the Ojców National Park, at the very edge of the park. The oldest information about the castle in Pieskowa Skała dates back to 1315. The Renaissance castle welcomes all tourists and captivates with its beauty. The structure was built as a link in the fortification chain protecting the trade route from Krakow to Silesia. It is one of the few such well-preserved buildings on the Trail of the Eagles’ Nests. Inside there is the Pieskowa Skała Museum with permanent and temporary exhibitions, which is open all year round; there is also a Café, through which it is worth climbing up to the bastion – a great viewpoint! Next to the Castle itself is the famous Mace of Hercules – a limestone rock formation in the shape of a huge mace.
