The Cistercian Monastery is famous for the Book of Henryków, which contains the first recorded sentence in the Polish language: “Let me grind, and you take a rest.” The history of the monastery and abbey dates back to 1227. The author of this first Polish sentence was the third abbot named Piotr. The monastery was repeatedly looted and burned, including by the Mongols and Hussites. Today, Cistercian monks still reside in the Henryków monastery.

The Cistercian Abbey in Henryków is a historic site with exceptional natural values as well. This makes it ideal for tourism. For those who enjoy active leisure, the developed network of hiking trails (including the Cistercian Trail) is undoubtedly an attraction.

Every visitor will certainly satisfy their need to explore historical monuments and gain historical knowledge here. The surroundings of these centuries-old buildings, significantly different from urban architecture, also promote relaxation in close contact with nature.
