Ľubovňa Castle

A partially preserved and reconstructed castle located on a limestone hill (548 m above sea level), above the road and the left bank of the Poprad River, towering over the town of Stará Ľubovňa and dominating the Ľubovňa Basin. The origin of Ľubovňa Castle dates back to the second half of the 13th century or the beginning of the 14th century. The castle was built as a border guard fortress protecting trade routes to Poland.
