Kecskemét Wildlife Garden

The Kecskemét Game Park is the smallest zoo in Hungary in terms of area. Its establishment is connected to the 1st World Hunting Exhibition, which was held in the capital. Although the event took place in Budapest, the live animal collection showcased there was gifted to Kecskemét. Even the symbol of the exhibition—a fallow deer statue—was relocated to the city.

Thus, in 1971, the city leadership decided to create the Kecskemét Game Park. Built in accordance with the regulations of the time, the zoo was established on approximately three hectares, primarily to present native wildlife and traditional Hungarian domestic animals.

Since 2003, the game park has been undergoing dynamic renovations, which are still ongoing today. Major developments have included the construction of the tiger house, the bear house, the monkey house, and the lion house. New enclosures and bird aviaries are continuously being built in a natural and pleasant environment.

One of the zoo’s primary goals during its development is the preservation, enhancement, and enrichment of existing natural values. Alongside this, it constantly introduces new and exciting features. The previous variety of species has significantly expanded, and now animals from every continent of the world are represented by fascinating specimens.
