Imperial Carriage Museum Schönbrunn Palace

The Wagenburg (Imperial Carriage Museum) in Schönbrunn houses the core collection of the former imperial fleet of the Viennese court. After the end of the monarchy in 1918, around one hundred carriages, sleighs, sedan chairs, and litters—along with their associated harnesses and horse trappings—were preserved. Since then, the collection has expanded to 170 vehicles.
Among the highlights of the Wagenburg are:
The gilded “Imperial Carriage”
Maria Theresa’s Carousel Wagon
The child carriage of Napoleon’s son
The black funeral hearse of the Viennese court
Empress Elisabeth’s personal landaulet
The only surviving court automobile from 1914
