Hostel on Hala Krupowa

Medals available at the hostel!
The hostel in Hala Krupowa is located in the Babia Góra Range – on the border of the Beskid Żywiecki and Beskid Makowski, between Zawoja, Jordanów and Zubrzyca, approximately 10 km north-east of Babia Góra. The exact location of the hostel is shown on the map below.
The hostel offers its guests 38 beds in six comfortable rooms. These are: two double rooms, two four-bed rooms, one ten-bed room and one sixteen-bed room. If required, additional beds can be provided on mattresses. All rooms are equipped with regular or bunk beds, pillows, blankets or duvets, tables, chairs, hangers and wardrobes or shelves. One of the double rooms has its own toilet. Residents of the other rooms can use the three shared toilets. All rooms have central heating, so all accommodation is available all year round. The windows of most rooms ‘look out’ to the south – towards the Tatra Mountains. Detailed information on prices of individual rooms is available in the price list.
The chalet was extensively renovated and rebuilt in the late 1980s and early 1990s. At present, it is a nice, wooden, single-storey building in highland style, perfectly matching its surroundings. On the ground floor of the chalet there is a sixteen-person room, a tourist buffet and a cosy dining room, accommodating around 30 people at a time. In addition to the unique ambience, a major asset of the dining room is the large stone fireplace. The tourist buffet offers hot and cold dishes, tea, coffee, cakes, sweets, beer and other cool drinks. The chalet also offers maps, guidebooks, books, postcards, souvenirs and many ‘trinkets’ necessary on a hiking trail. Upstairs are all the other guest rooms and two toilets. In the larger one, shower cubicles have been installed. The third and largest toilet is located in the basement of the chalet.
The hostel welcomes individual tourists as well as families and organised groups – Green, White or Colour Schools, hiking camps, rallies, excursions and winter camps. It also provides all-day, tasty meals. There is a GOPR station in the shelter.
You can get to the mountain shelter on Hala Krupowa by following one of more than a dozen attractive hiking trails. You can also get there by mountain bike or on skis. The nearest car park to the mountain hostel is located in Sidzina Wielka Polana, from where – upon special request – it is possible to take guests or their luggage.
A detailed list of tourist trails leading to the mountain chalet is available on the Trails to Krupowa website.
In winter, the snow on the road is regularly compacted with snowmobile tracks, thanks to which it is possible to reach the mountain shelter comfortably regardless of the thickness of the snow cover and the permeability of the tourist trails. Using public transport, the easiest way to get to the vicinity of Hala Krupowa is to go to Skawica (by microbuses and buses from Krakow to Zawoja), from where the blue trail leads to Hala Krupowa, and to Zubrzyca Górna Zimna Dziura (by microbuses from Krakow to Zubrzyca and from Nowy Targ to Zubrzyca), from where it is possible to get to Hala Krupowa by taking the blue trail through Polica or the farm road. The farm track (traversing the eastern slope of the Czyrniec Mountain) is currently the simplest and most picturesque of the shortest routes leading to the mountain hostel, but in the absence of signposting, walking it requires a map or GPS.
However, for motorised tourists, the nearest car park to the hostel is in Sidzina Wielka Polana. To get there, you need to turn towards Sidzina from the road connecting Jordanów with Sucha Beskidzka (driving from Jordanów – to the left, about 2 km after the village). Then, after about six kilometres (vis-a-vis the Sidzina Dąb bus stop), you need to turn right to reach the Sidzina Wielka Polana bus stop after ten minutes. There (next to the bus stop or at the forest car park) you can leave your car and follow the black signs to arrive at Hala Krupowa after less than an hour. You can also reach Wielka Polana from Zubrzyca Górna (at the fork in the road below the school, turn right). There is also a road linking Skawica and Juszczyn near the hostel.
