St. Spirit Hospital, 6 Stara St. – the post-hospital complex with St. Anne’s Chapel has existed since the end of the 15th century, in its present form since the early 18th century. Destroyed and abandoned after 1945, renovated between 1978 and 1989 for the Museum – History of Medicine department.
Most valuable decorative elements:
1) wall painting in the St Anne’s Chapel, depicting the Last Judgement from the early 15th century.
2) two bath cookers from the early 15th century. – made accessible to the public through an archaeological dig.
3) epitaph plates from the 17th century.
4) pulpit from the 18th century.
The hospital rooms house an exhibition of the Museum’s acquisitions for the emerging department of the history of medicine, as well as an exhibition of 17th – 18th century Varmia sculpture and painting. On the south side there is a garden – herbarium with cultivation of medicinal herbs.
