Henryk Sienkiewicz Palace in Oblęgorek

Medals available at the entrance to the palace!

This beautifully located eclectic palace, specially designed for the writer by architect Hugo Kuder, became the museum’s headquarters in 1958. The exhibition faithfully recreates the interior of the palace from the time when the writer lived there (1902-1914). Here you can see the writer’s study, living room, dining room, smoking room and bedroom. The furnishings include original furniture, paintings, sculptures, fabrics and part of Sienkiewicz’s book collection. On the first floor there is a biographical and literary exhibition dedicated to the museum’s patron. The most valuable collections include manuscripts, letters, anniversary souvenirs, albums and exquisitely decorated addresses sent as tokens of appreciation and respect. The advantage of our exhibition is its authenticity and items directly related to Sienkiewicz.

Contrary to the intentions of the donors, Oblęgorek was only a summer residence for Sienkiewicz, who lived permanently in Warsaw, where the writer gathered his closest family and friends during moments of relaxation. Since 1958, the residence of Oblęgorek’s most famous owner has housed a museum, which was established thanks to the donation of the writer’s children – Jadwiga Korniłowicz and Henryk Józef Sienkiewicz.
