Church of the Holy Name of Jesus in Wrocław

The magnificent early Baroque church, along with the adjacent University, is one of the architectural masterpieces created and left to posterity by the Jesuits in Silesia. It is a hall church with galleries and two rows of chapels. Externally, it is 53 meters long and 26 meters wide. Inside, it measures 50.55 meters in length and 23.6 meters in width, with a height of 23.6 meters.

It is difficult to view the entire structure from the outside as it is surrounded by University buildings with which it is connected. At the top of the temple, in a radiant wreath, the inscription IHS is visible – a gilded work by artist Theodor Wipperding SJ. From the outside, two rows of windows are also visible, as well as the sacristy, which is a remnant of the Piast castle (the lower parts of the church most likely still contain relics of the former castle).
