Reszel is a picturesque town in Warmia situated only 70 km north-east of Olsztyn.

In 1241, the first Teutonic watchtower stood in Reszel. More than 100 years later, the construction of a brick castle was initiated.

From 1243, Reszel formally belonged to the bishops of Warmia, but the Teutonic Knights did not leave it until 1300. The construction of the castle lasted half a century, from 1350 to 1401. Over the centuries the castle was extended and changed its purpose from a military building to a magnificent hunting lodge. In the 20th century, the castle underwent extensive renovation.

Today, it is one of the most visited and magnificent tourist attractions in Warmia.
