The “Włodarz” complex – the largest structure of the “Riese” project from World War II, covering vast forested areas. It is located on the northeastern slopes of Mount Włodarz (811 m above sea level). The underground section, carved into gneiss rock, consists of four parallel adits facing southwest, along with halls and tunnels totaling over 3,000 meters in length. This complex features a two-level excavation system, with one-third of the underground space flooded, explored by boat—adding to the site’s appeal. The above-ground area includes a road connecting “Włodarz” to other facilities, remnants of rail tracks, a concrete plant, cement storage sites, barracks foundations, concrete structures, and loading ramps.
What was the purpose of these kilometers of tunnels and massive rock-carved halls? Hitler’s secret headquarters? Underground weapons factories? Chemical, biological, or nuclear labs? Research facilities for vertical-takeoff aircraft—or something entirely different? For years, historians, researchers, adventurers, and treasure hunters have sought answers. Likely, this will remain one of WWII’s greatest unsolved mysteries for decades to come.
In addition to exploring the adits and historical military infrastructure, we offer activities such as:
Alpine-style adventures (e.g., zip-lining, rappelling down a 50-meter shaft into the adit)
Treasure hunts, skill games (including military equipment challenges)
Knife throwing, paintball, airsoft, shooting range
Campfires, grilling, field kitchens, karaoke
Off-road tours in historic military vehicles
Horseback riding or sleigh rides in winter
WWII reenactments with partnered historical groups
Discover the beauty of the Sowie Mountains in unforgettable ways!
