Vienna Prater Lilliput Railway

Every ride on the Liliputbahn means 20 minutes of well-being, adventure, entertainment and fascination with technology. Various locomotives – each one unique – pull the airy, open carriages through the unique atmosphere of Vienna’s Wurstelprater and onwards through the refreshingly cool floodplain forest (even in summer) to the Ernst-Happel-Stadion. A special experience for young and old is a ride on our historic steam locomotives. Although they are over 80 years old, they are still used in scheduled service (on weekends, holidays and event days). Let the smell of hot steel, lubricating oil and coal fire waft around your nose, fascinated by the audible and tangible power of boiling water…
The Route:
The Liliputbahn is located in the Prater, right in the heart of Vienna. It starts at “Prater Hauptbahnhof” near the Praterstern S-Bahn and U-Bahn station and leads to the “Schweizerhaus-Luftburg” station in the immediate vicinity of two well-known and popular restaurants as well as the traditional Wiener Hochschaubahn (roller coaster). The journey continues to “Rotunde” with connection to tram line 1 and finally through the floodplain forest to “Stadion”. From there, the train returns along the same route after a large loop. The entire round trip is almost 4 km long and takes about 20 minutes. You can get on and off at any station; in addition to the full round trip, there are also partial route tickets for a journey of up to 2 stations.
