Underground Tourist Route of the Nowa Ruda Coal Mine

Medals available at the entrance, opposite the ticket counters!
The museum features exhibits from all areas of underground mining displayed across 4 exhibition halls, including models of machinery, safety equipment with various types of explosive charges, and escape apparatuses. Visitors can also explore different models of mining supports. An original dispatch room, which once served as the mine’s control center, is open for viewing.
The above-ground mining complex showcases unique, world-class furnaces and shaft towers. This is one of the few surviving 19th-century industrial mining facilities preserved in such excellent condition.
When visiting the southern part of the Owl Mountains or the Kłodzko Valley, this exceptional and meticulously preserved site should not be missed. Especially since the mine’s underground railway is the first attraction of its kind in Poland and the fourth in Europe.
Originally used to transport miners, today tourists can ride it at the end of their Underground Tourist Route tour. The train consists of a locomotive and three carriages, accommodating up to 36 passengers simultaneously.
A fascinating highlight and major attraction of the mine is its ghost – the “Skarbnik” (Treasure Keeper), who guards the mine’s secrets. To this day, he resides in the adit and spooks visiting tourists.
