Štrbské Pleso

Štrbské Pleso (Hungarian: Csorba-tó, German: Tschirmer See or Zirbener See, Polish: Szczyrbskie Jezioro) is one of the three local parts of the municipality of Štrba (Štrba, Tatranská Štrba, Štrbské Pleso), located at the foot of the High Tatras.

Štrbské Pleso is a major center for tourism and winter sports, and it is the highest situated tourist and health resort in the High Tatras. It lies on the southern shore of the Štrbské pleso lake at an altitude of 1,346 meters above sea level.

The cadastral area of Štrbské Pleso includes the settlements of Podbanské (partially; the rest belongs to the municipality of Pribylina) and Vyšné Hágy. The settlement of Štrbské Pleso, after which the area is named, was reattached to the municipality of Štrba by a decision of the Supreme Court of the Slovak Republic. It is the highest tourist-health settlement in the High Tatras and a top-level sports center for Nordic disciplines.
