PTTK Stożek mountain hostel

Medal available at the mountain hut!
The shelter building is located below the summit of Wielki Stożek (978 m above sea level), right on the ridge of the Czantoria and Stożek range, which also forms the Polish-Czech border. This range is the westernmost part of the Polish Beskid Śląski mountains, ending with the Tuł massif. This is the oldest Polish mountain shelter in Beskid Śląski, whose construction was decided by the PTT Branch Board in Cieszyn in 1919. Construction began in May 1920 according to the design of Stanisław Chorubski, who incorporated both local and Podhale architectural elements. The shelter was officially opened on July 9, 1922. After numerous renovations, it underwent a major refurbishment in the 1960s, and since then its shape and appearance have remained practically unchanged. The magnificent views to the east from the shelter have also remained the same.
