Podlaskie Museum – Icon Museum in Suprasl

Medal available at the cloakroom entrance!
The Icon Museum in Supraśl occupies part of the 17th-century Abbot’s Palace within the Supraśl Monastery complex. Its centerpiece is the reconstructed 16th-century Church of the Annunciation of the Most Holy Theotokos.
The museum houses one of Poland’s richest collections of 18th-20th century icons. Its absolute rarity are the 16th-century frescoes salvaged from the destroyed (and now rebuilt) Annunciation Church located within the monastery grounds.
The current collection primarily consists of Russian icons from the 17th-19th centuries, along with a smaller group representing Polish iconographic traditions. These include works characteristic of the 17th-century Lviv school, 17th-18th century “Carpathian” style, and local artists creating for Uniate churches.
