The planetarium is located in the former cathedral bell tower, known as the Radziejowski Tower. It is equipped with Carl Zeiss apparatus, which displays on a dome with a diameter of 8 m images of the sky visible from any place on Earth, time of day and year. It shows the path of the Sun, planets, comets and artificial satellites in the artificial sky, as well as images of more than 6,000 stars.

One of the most unique specialities of the Frombork museum in Poland is scientific and educational work in the field of astronomy. The planetarium, which has been operating since 1973 in the ground floor of the former cathedral bell tower, serves this purpose. On the 8-metre diameter artificial sky dome, images of celestial bodies visible from any latitude, time of day or time of year are projected using Zeiss ZKP-2 apparatus. In the more than 40 years of the museum’s planetarium’s operation, there have been around 47,000 séances, averaging more than 1,000 séances per year, watched by more than 2,300,000 people, averaging around 40,000 people per year.
