History:
On the morning of 15 July 1410, the Polish-Lithuanian army in the strength of 91 banners led by King Wladyslaw Jagiello assisted by Duke Vytautas faced 51 banners of the Teutonic army assisted by guests of the Order from Germany, Switzerland, Bohemia, Silesia, Moravia, Pomerania and Inflants. The Teutonic army was led by Urlich von Jungingen, Grand Master of the Teutonic Order.
The battle started around noon, lasted about 6 hours and ended in a complete defeat of the Teutonic forces. Fifty-one flags were captured and the Grand Master of the Teutonic Order, Urlich von Jungingen, and all the senior Teutonic officials were killed on the battlefield.
The victory reverberated throughout Europe and became permanently etched in the memory of many.
