Keszthely Lake Balaton

Keszthely is a town located in Transdanubia, in Zala County, in the western corner of Lake Balaton. It boasts vibrant tourism, a strong economy, and a rich history and culture. It is the administrative center of the Keszthely District.
The town is a major economic hub in the eastern part of Zala County. A significant portion of its revenue comes from the service sector, particularly tourism, which thrives thanks to its historical attractions and, most importantly, its proximity to Lake Balaton.
In addition to tourism, Keszthely has a well-developed light and food industry. The town is home to dairy and bakery businesses.
The town has a hospital, a tax office, a courthouse, a police headquarters, a beach, a train and bus station, seven banks, and eight insurance companies.
A civil guard operates in the town.
Keszthely is the cultural center of the region. Alongside the Helikon Library, there is also a municipal library in the town. The Helikon Library’s collection was established by the Festetics family and includes several old encyclopedias and antique prints.
The Georgikon Faculty of the University of Pannon is located in the town.
Every year, the town hosts several cultural events, some of which are held in the grand hall of Festetics Palace. It has its own conference center and theater.
In 2011, the Keszthely-Klassz Festival and Masterclass (www.keszthelyklasszfesztival.hu) was held, a unique international classical music festival and masterclass in the region, featuring artists such as Sylvia Sass, Andrea Rost, László Fassang, Eric Herrero, and festival director Natália Bálint. Despite its success, a continuation is not expected for now.
Since 2013, an international street organ festival has been held in the town every early September.
