Ecomuseum – Ruse

The Ecomuseum showcases the diversity of animal species and protected areas along the Danube River, as well as the coexistence of humans and nature.

The museum spans four floors, where visitors can see a rich collection of fossils and dioramas depicting various animal species in their natural habitats. It is also home to the largest freshwater aquarium in Bulgaria, featuring fish from the Danube and its tributaries.

Special attention in the exhibition is given to prehistoric animals. A life-sized model of a woolly mammoth (Mammuthus primigenius) is on display. Additionally, the world’s most completely preserved part of another mammoth species—the lower jaw of Mammuthus rumanus—is exhibited here.
