Danube Park Railway

The sister of the Liliputbahn in the Prater, the Donauparkbahn, was opened as an exhibition railway for the 1964 Vienna International Garden Show (WIG). It delights visitors with the beauty of its route, which winds through the well-maintained park landscape, passing magnificent flower beds and lush meadows. During the ride, you might discover a charming spot worth exploring on a later stroll—or you can simply relax and let your soul unwind in one of Vienna’s most beautiful recreational landscapes.
By the way, the Donauparkbahn also takes you to areas of the park that are usually inaccessible on foot…
The Route
The Donauparkbahn is located in Vienna’s 22nd district (Donaustadt). Its 3.4 km loop follows the shape of an open figure-eight. At the “Rosenschau” station, a short walk connects you to the U1 metro line (Alte Donau). Next is the “Donauturm” station, right at the foot of Vienna’s iconic Danube Tower. From there, the train continues to the “Donau-City” station. This stop has no ticket office, but you can still board—just purchase your ticket at the next station, “Rosenschau”.
The full round trip takes about 20 minutes. You can hop on and off at any station, and alongside full-round tickets, there are also partial-route tickets valid for travel between up to two stations.
