Bucovina Museum

The Bucovina Museum (also known as the National Museum of Bucovina, formerly the Society Museum, Suceava Town Museum, Regional Museum of Bucovina, Suceava Regional Museum, Suceava County Museum, Bucovina Museum Complex) is the main museum institution in Suceava County. It operates in a building constructed between 1902 and 1903, in Neoclassical and Baroque styles, located at 33 Ștefan cel Mare Street, in the center of Suceava.

The Bucovina Museum building was listed in 2004 as a historic monument under the name “Former Prefecture, now Bucovina Museum Complex,” with the classification code SV-II-m-B-05480.

The permanent exhibition is located on the upper floor of the building, spread across 27 rooms, and is arranged chronologically, from the earliest archaeological discoveries, dating from the Lower Paleolithic (discovered at Ripiceni, in Botoșani County), to the 1989 Revolution. The majority of the exhibition focuses on archaeological finds, spanning from Room 1 to Room 15, and includes archaeological collections, jewelry, weapons, tools, household items, coins, ceramics, archaeological textiles, etc. The exhibition concludes with the events of December 1989, showcasing the anti-communist protests that took place in Suceava.
